Five-year ban on Ajay Jadeja lifted

In a significant ruling, an Arbitrator named by the Delhi High Court has removed the five-year ban imposed by the Board for Control of Cricket in India(BCCI) on cricketer Ajay Jadeja for his alleged involvement in match-fixing.

Jadeja had challenged the BCCI decision to ban him from playing cricket for India for five years after the Board inquiry Commission headed by K Madhavan endorsed the CBI report indicating his involvement in the match-fixing row.

After a few hearings in the High Court, Jadeja had agreed to take the matter to arbitration.

The court then appointed former Judge Justice J K Mehra as arbitrator.

Justice Mehra on Monday quashed the BCCI order imposing the ban on the flamboyant all-rounder.

The removal of the ban makes Jadeja eligible to play for India in the future.
