The former Australian speedster Brett Lee will replace legendary pace bowler Wasim Akram as Kolkata Knight Riders' bowling mentor.
"We are fortunate that someone of the caliber of Brett Lee, who in addition to being a key member of the team, will also mentor the bowling unit," KKR CEO Venky Mysore said in a statement.
Wasim Akram resigned from the job expressing his desire to spend more time with his family as his two sons Taimur and Akbar are barely in their teens. The Shahrukh Khan-owned franchise won the IPL title in 2012 under Akram’s mentoring.
Team India’s fielding coach Trevor Penney will also be joining KKR as their fielding coach.
Brett Lee’s experience in international cricket will help bowlers like Shami Ahmed, Ashok Dinda, Laxmipathy Balaji immensely as they will be under the guidance of a fast-bowler who has enjoyed a lot of success.
Brett Lee played a crucial role as a bowler in helping Knight Riders clinch their maiden IPL Trophy and will always be remembered for his quick bowling and exploits with the ball.
