Dinesh Mongia today said he had worked hard to develop himself as an all-rounder and was keen to prove himself as one in the upcoming tri-series in Malaysia.

"In the last two to three years, I have worked hard on my bowling, batting and fielding. I want to prove a point as an allrounder," Mongia, who is attending the rolling camp for the Indian team in Bangalore, told reporters.

"I have done well wherever I played my cricket, be it county cricket or domestic cricket. I have been bowling well."

The Punjab middle order batsman said coach Greg Chappell and skipper Rahul Dravid saw a similar for him in the Indian team.

"Yes, I have spoken to Greg and Rahul and they think I have a role to play as a bowler (left-arm spinner) as well," he said.

Mongia said batting against bowling machines would stand him in good stead when facing tall pacemen like Glenn Donald McGrath .

"Yes, it's something new because with the bowling machine at that height, I think it is about 10 feet, and with the ball coming at that height, it is really good actually. It is a really good experience."

Asked how different were the last two days of the camp, Mongia said when he played last time, it was under John Wright. "Now under Greg Chappell, some new things have come out. So, it is really enjoyable and it is really new for us."

On the new fielding and throwing techniques that was being imparted to the players, Mongia said: "Chappell spoke about the use of hips, not just the shoulder and the arms.

"He spoke about use of the whole body into a throw which is much better than just using a arm. We are working on that."
