Wiser from defeat, Australia will come back "a lot stronger" against India to ensure it makes it to the final of the tri-series, Australian captain Michael Hussey said in Kuala Lumpur today.

"It was disappointing to lose the game. But the biggest positive is that we have identified the areas in which we need improvement. Hopefully we will come back a lot stronger against India," Hussey said at the post-match presentation.

Hussey, leading the side for the first time and declared man of the match for his unbeaten 109, gave credit to Christopher Henry Gayle and Brian Lara for their efforts in securing their side victory.

"After the initial hiccups we got to a total we thought we could defend. But credit to Gayle and Lara -- they took the game away from us," he said.

West Indies overhauled Australia's 272/6 with three wickets and 16 balls to spare to ensure a place in the September 24 final.

India would now have to win their remaining two matches, including one against Australia, if they are to make it to the title clash.

Asked about his own show with the bat, Hussey said, "I was a bit rusty to start with but gradually gained in confidence and put a crucial partnership with (Brad) Haddin.

"With five wickets down, we just decided to occupy the crease. The wicket was not too bad for batting, once you have spent some time on it, it is easy."
