Getting 'King' out early was the key: Lee

Brett Lee today said Australia's game plan was centred on getting "King" Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Shewag out cheaply and was happy that he accomplished it for his team.

"We had to win this game. It is always nice to get the king (Sachin) out. They (Sachin and Sehwag) are the keys to get first up," Lee said after Australia's 18-run victory in the tri-series at the Kinrara Oval.

Chasing a modest target of 214, India were bundled out for 195 in 43.1 overs with Lee returning 5/38.

The win put Australia through to the final on Sunday against the West Indies.

"It was quite a hot day so bowling second was better. It is hard work in this heat but the ball swings more," Lee said on his spell.

Aussie skipper Ricky Thomas Ponting said the toss was a crucial factor as chasing was always going to be difficult.

"We knew that chasing runs would have been difficult. A couple of good wickets at the middle of the game and we knew we could win," Ponting said.

"They (India) had a long tail. The bowlers got us out of jail today like they did in the first match against the West Indies."

Batting was a concern for Australia as well and the captain said they need to sort it out quickly.

"Losing 5 wickets for 90 runs is not good enough to win big games. We will have to sort out our running between the wickets also," Ponting said.

He praised Lee and Brad Hogg for pulling off the game for his side.

"He (Lee) is a terrific bowler. He has done us the job whenever it is required. Hogg is an underrated cricketer. He has handled the job well."
