All rounder Dinesh Mongia says his performance in the tri-series game against Australia had helped him gain confidence especially since he was making a comeback after a long break from international cricket.

The 29-year-old Punjab player, who last played a match more than 16 months ago against Pakistan in Delhi, also said he did not feel any kind of pressure while playing against the "world's best team".

"I was not under any pressure whatsoever. Rahul (Dravid) had told me the previous evening that I was playing. The coach had also told me not to put any undue pressure on myself. I was completely focussed on the game that day," he told reporters in Chandigarh on Tuesday.

"I have played for India earlier also. What is important is that you should enjoy playing your cricket no matter how many times you get the opportunity. Always give your 100 per cent and feel privileged to wear the India cap," he said.

Asked if the team had sat down and assessed on what had gone wrong in their last one-dayer, he said, "the team has taken cognizance of certain things, but only the captain or the coach will be able to throw light on this".

Mongia also brushed aside criticism that he did not take charge of the game, which India lost by 18 runs, and exposed the tail enders.

"We thought we had the game under our grip. Even the body language of the Aussies showed they were getting nervous as we were inching towards the target. In cricket, it just happens."
