NEWS ICC Champions Trophy 2006>Parthiv hopeful of making a comeback 05th Oct 2006 22.23 IST By Agencies Wicketkeeper batsman Parthiv Ajay Patel is hopeful of making a comeback into the national cricket team and said that putting a consistent performance both with the gloves and the bat was the key to it. "I have been concentrating on improving my performance behind the stumps and have also done well with the bat," Parthiv said while talking to reporters after the match against Zimbabwe in Ahmedabad. Parthiv’s last appearance for the national side was in the home Test against Australia in Nagpur in October 2004. His last one-day international outing was against Sri Lanka at Colombo in July 2004. However, in the recent Challenger Series in Chennai, Parthiv managed to do well both with the bat and gloves for his team India Greens. Asked about the sort of challenge he faced from his wicket-keeping counterparts Mahendra Dhoni and Dinesh Kaarthick , who have also put an impressive show during the Challenger Series, Parthiv said he had no option but to compete with the two to make a comeback into the team.
