NEWS India-South Africa Series 2006>Fans need to keep faith: Sehwag 03rd Dec 2006 23.19 IST By Agencies Stand-in skipper Virender Shewag asked Indian fans not to lose heart after another thrashing at the hands of South Africa in the one-day series in Centurion today. "Fans should keep the trust in us. We did well in the Test series in the West Indies earlier this year, and will try to turn things around here also," Sehwag said after the nine-wicket pounding at the hands of South Africa at the Supersport Park. "We will keep working on our basics. Tests are a different game altogether and the tour game in between will be useful to get some batting practice," the Delhi batsman said. Sehwag said that India fell way short of a competitive total in today's match. "We were short by 50 runs on a good track. It eased out in the afternoon, but gave some assistance to bowlers in the morning. "The bowlers did a good job for us in the series so far, but today we did not have the runs on the board," he added. Sehwag's counterpart Graeme Smith lauded his team for an all-round display. "The bowlers were fantastic and the fielding superb." He was also pleased at getting some runs after a lean trot. "The guys have been supporting me throughout and it was time I paid them back," Smith said. All-rounder Shaun Maclean Pollock , who took home both the Man of the Match and Man of the Series awards, said he was enjoying his cricket at the moment. "I am relaxed and feeling good. We are playing as a unit and the one-day series should set the tone for the Test matches," he said.
