All-rounder Chris Gayle will take over the captaincy from Daren Ganga in the 14-man West Indies cricket squad for limited-overs matches against England.

Gayle, the powerful left-handed opener and right-arm off-spinner, received the leadership on Thursday when Ganga was not included in the squad by the West Indies Cricket Board. Shivnarine Chanderpaul was named vice-captain.

Ramnaresh Sarwan was initially expected to lead West Indies for the three One-Day Internationals and two Twenty20 matches but he was forced home when he injured his shoulder while fielding in the second Test at Headingley.

The one newcomer in the squad was Austin Richards Jr, a flashy left-handed opener from Antigua. continued..
