When Kumble 'taunted' Yousuf to doom

With the tough Australian tour not far off, Indian captain Anil Kumble seemed to be learning a trick or two on 'sledging'.

Kumble 'plotted' the dismissal of prolific Pakistani batsman Mohammad Yousuf by uttering some 'nasty' remarks on the third day of the final Test between the traditional rivals at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

Yousuf complained the two field umpires about some remarks made by the Indian captain, known as one of the most genial cricketers in the world.

Four deliveries later, the Pakistani batting mainstay lost concentration as well as his wicket.

The incident took place in the post lunch session in the eventful 71st over of the Pakistan first innings bowled by Irfan Pathan.

First Yousuf complained umpire Simon Taufel about the 'nasty' remark made by Kumble positioned at gully. The furious Pakistani batsman, who was adjudged the Best Test Batsman by the ICC this year, also spoke to the leg umpire Rudi Koertzen even as Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman, standing in the slips, tried to pacify him.

Kumble too approached Yousuf and put his arm round his shoulder and consoled him.

However, the damage had already been done and Yousuf seemed to have lost his concentration. He needlessly got out in the last ball of the over, jabbing awkwardly to a delivery pitched wide outside the off stump and offered an easy catch to Yuvraj Singh at point.

The scene amused the crowd. Yousuf, known for his cool mental make up and for his success in keeping at bay 'reputed' sledgers many a times, was peeved by a cricketer like Kumble, who no one would believed to involve in sledging.
