Two South African provincial cricket teams have reportedly been offered around USD 100,000 to release some of their top players for the first week of the Indian Premier League, which they would otherwise miss because of domestic commitments.

The Titans players the IPL wanted released early are Albie Morkel, AB de Villiers and Dale Steyn but the club turned down the offer, Johannesburg-based 'Sunday Times' reported.

The Cape Cobras are reported to have been offered more than USD 100,000 for the release of the likes of South African captain Graeme Smith, Jacques Kallis and Mark Boucher, the paper claimed.

Cricket South Africa has issued a directive that the players must first fulfill their domestic Pro20 commitments before heading for India to play in the IPL. The Pro 20 tournament will end on April 25.

Titans CEO Elize Lombard said they had taken a few days before turning down IPL's offer.

However, Cobras CEO Andre Odendaal declined to discuss the IPL offer.
