England captain Paul Collingwood faces minimum four ODI or two Tests ban after he was found guilty of a Level 3 ICC Code of Conduct breach following his side's slow over-rate during the controversial ODI against New Zealand at The Oval, London.

Collingwood was initially found guilty of breaching Level 2 Code with his side short of three overs but later upgraded to Level 3 because of repeat offence within 12 months.

A Level 3 offence carries a minimum ban of four ODIs or two Test matches - or a combination of the two forms of the game - and Collingwood will meet ICC Elite Panel Match Referee Javagal Srinath for determination of his punishment.

The charge was laid by all four umpires - on-field officials Steve Davis and Mark Benson, television umpire Richard Kettleborough and fourth official Peter Hartley, who were present at the hearing, along with the player and England coach Peter Moores.

Meanwhile, each England player will also be fined 15 per cent of his match fee, five per cent for every over short.

Under the rules, the captain should be fined double the amount docked from each player, but Collingwood is set to escape a financial penalty as his punishment is set to come in the form of ban.

A deficit of more than two overs in an ODI brings an automatic Level 2 charge against the captain involved, but if he has already been found guilty of the offence within the preceding 12 months then the charge is elevated to Level 3.

The previous occasion England was more than two overs short was against India in Bristol on August 24 last year.

A player found guilty of a Level 2, 3 or 4 offence has a right of appeal, to be lodged with ICC's legal counsel within 24 hours of receiving the original verdict.
