Cricket Australia-appointed independent expert Reg Dickason arrived in Karachi today to access the security situation ahead of the Champions Trophy to be hosted by the country in September.

Dickason has been sent to the strife-torn nation on an inspection tour after some Australian and New Zealand players expressed reservations about playing the biennial tournament because of the security situation in Pakistan.

Dickason is no stranger to Pakistan, having come here before with different touring teams including Australia in 1998.

His visit comes a few weeks after the International Cricket Council had sent a strong delegation here to inspect the security arrangements and other preparations.

Four experts of the ICC are monitoring the security cover for the ongoing Asia Cup tournament.

The delegation, including security experts, visited the Champions Trophy venues and also met with the top security and interior ministry officials who briefed them in detail on the security plans for the tournament due to start from September 11.
