Earlier, Jayasuriya celebrated his 39th birthday by scoring 130 runs while Sangakkara (121) made his third century of the tournament underlining his current form.
The two left-handers put on 201 runs for the opening wicket, which is a new record for the Asia Cup bettering the 191 put together by Jayasuriya and Gunawardene against the same opponents in the 2004 Asia Cup.
Jayasuriya was in sparkling form as he raced to his century from only 55 balls in the 18th over with 14 fours and five sixes. This was his 26th career hundred and fourth against Bangladesh.
Sangakkara reached his 10th career hundred from 117 balls with 12 fours and one six in the 42nd over as he tried to anchor the innings which fell apart in the middle overs thanks to some resolute bowling and fielding by the Bangladesh's players.
Jayasuriya also became the second oldest player after Geoff Boycott to get a hundred in one-day internationals.
Boycott had achieved the feat at the age of 39 years and 51 days against Australia at Sydney in 1979-80.
