MCC to ask ICC to overturn Oval Test decision

Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), custodian of the laws of the game, will ask the ICC to overturn its decision to change the result of the forfeited Oval Test to a draw.
MCC Secretary Keith Bradshaw said the ICC decision breached both the spirit and laws of the game and hence should be overturned.
"Cricket is the worse for this decision and it was opposed unanimously by the ICC's cricket committee, on which I sit," he was quoted as saying by 'The Times'.
Robert Griffiths, who represented controversial umpire Darrell Hair in the tribunal after the official had accused Pakistan of ball-tampering in the 2006 Test, also expressed his anger at the ICC decision.
"It is historical revisionism of the worst kind," Griffiths said, adding "It was plainly connected to the negotiations over Zimbabwe." |
