 No permission for IPL if it clashes with Aus series: PCB

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) today ruled out allowing its players to take part in next year's Indian Premier League if it clashes with their rescheduled home series against Australia.
Brushing aside any possibility of a Sri Lanka type situation where cricketers are on a collision course with their Board over their proposed England tour during IPL season, PCB Chief Operating Officer Shafqat Naghmi reasoned that a domestic tournament -- IPL -- cannot take precedence over international commitment.
"We don't see any confrontation with the players over the clash of dates of the IPL with the Australian tour. IPL is a domestic tournament. International commitments take precedence over the domestic tournaments and IPL is no exception," he said.
"We will work strictly under a principle which has been decided at the International Cricket Council (ICC) level. Obviously the home series against Australia is very important for us and nothing will take precedence over it," he added. |
