Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds will miss the one-day series against Bangladesh as he has been sent back home for a reported discipline breach.

Though Cricket Australia is yet to explain the reason behind Symonds' ouster, it is believed that the star all-rounder skipped a team meeting and an optional training session yesterday, ahead of the series opener today.

"Australian all rounder Andrew Symonds will be leaving the Australian cricket team in Darwin to return home on Saturday, following a recommendation by the team leadership group to Cricket Australia management late on Friday," a Cricket Australia statement said.

Australia and Bangladesh are due to play three ODIs in Darwin beginning with today's match and followed by matches on Wednesday and Saturday.

In 2005, Symonds was suspended for two games after a drinking binge just before Australia suffered its only loss to Bangladesh in one-day cricket.
