John Buchanan, coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL), will conduct a two-day talent hunt camp in Kolkata from September 4.

The two-day search for new faces by the veteran Aussie may, however, be reduced to a courtesy trip with incessant rains threatening to play spoilsport.

"Basically, we had planned a talent hunt programme. But with the heavy rains, the ground condition will not be not that conducive at the Eden now .... So we don't want to take a chance. In that case, it will be a courtesy visit with John (Buchanan) meeting the officials and the KKR players," an apprehensive KKR CEO Joy Bhattacharya told a news agency.

The former Australian coach Buchanan has already assessed over 100 players in his first stop at the Goregaon Sports Club in Mumbai from August 27-28.

Buchanan is currently camping in New Delhi, his second talent hunt spot.

The idea behind the exercise in the three cities is to show that Knight Riders is not just about Kolkata but for giving opportunities to cricket talent all over India.

The chosen lot will be trained and groomed at a two-week camp at the Centre of Excellence in Australia under the two-time World Cup winning coach.

Though the exact number of players has not been finalised, the camp Down Under will take place from September 20-October 4.
