After booking a berth in the Super Eight stage of the World Cup, South Africa captain Graeme Smith is now eyeing a win against Australia on Saturday, which would enable his team to move to the next level with two points.
Adjudged "Man of the Match" for his belligerent 91 against Scotland, Smith said he was happy with the show but the focus had shifted to the match against Australia.
"It was a good day for us but we have a big game on Saturday. We have got our gameplan ready and we will work on it. We are an outstanding side and we are looking forward to the game", he said.
On his batting, Smith said, "I'm feeling good. Since we have been here, the wickets have been good and I'm striking the ball well.".
Opener AB de Villiers, who scored a quick fire 62, was also happy with the team's "clinical" win against Scotland.
"We have had a couple of dodgy warm-up game. It was a clinical win today and that's exactly what the coach had asked for", he said.
The youngster, who effected a brilliant run out to return rival captain Ryan Watson, attributed the high fielding standard to fielding expert Jonty Rhodes.
"For sure, we have a couple of good fielders inside the ring. Jonty has been working very hard and putting in the hours."
On the other hand, Scotland's stand-in skipper Watson was not shattered by the defeat and said, "It's very tough against South Africa but it has been a great experience. We are now looking forward to the next game against Holland (on Thursday)." |
