We will give our best shot: Kemp

Accepting that his team were the underdogs, African XI captain Justin Kemp today said they were keen to improve and over turn the tables on the Asian XI when the sides clash in the last two back to back ODIs of the Afro-Asia Cup in Chennai.
"We will be looking to improve our bowling in the next two games. We will give our best shot. We take pride in everything we do and hopefully we can push the Asians again," Kemp told reporters on the eve of the penultimate ODI at the M A Chidambaram stadium here.
"Asian XI are formidable.. They have some of the big guns. We are always the underdogs. We have got a young team. We are also playing after a while so there is a bit of rustiness," Kemp said after a nearly three-hour long nets.
However, he ruled out all-rounder Shaun Pollock coming to the side's rescue with his bowling.
"No, Pollock is not bowling on the tour. He came here as a batsman unfortunately. But he has done pretty well with the bat (in the first one-dayer in Bangalore)," Kemp said.
Pollock top scored for the Africans with a career best 130 but his effort went in vain as his side lost by 34 runs.
On the Chepauk pitch, Kemp said "I have not played here. Last time when we came, it rained out. But the wicket looks good and lot of runs involved." |
