With his team sitting pretty with a 1-0 lead, Asian XI Captain Mahela Jayawardene is keen to wrap up the series when they take on Africa XI in the second ODI of the Afro-Asia Cup tournament at M A Chidambaram stadium in Chennai on Saturday.
"We played some good cricket and obviously winning is a good habit. We need to make sure we win tomorrow's game to clinch the series. It's an important game for us," Jayawardene told a pre-match press conference.
Expressing satisfaction with the preparations, he said, "Guys had a fairly good nets session. We are taking things easy because lot of guys had played lot of cricket so just fine tuning things."
Like his African counterpart Justin Kemp, Jayawardene also gave the thumbs up to the wicket, saying "looks a very good batting wicket pretty flat. I haven't played here for a while. The last time I played was the Test match. I have spoken to a couple of Indian guys they seem to think it is really a good wicket."
He also said the composition of the team would be decided only on the morrow.
On Mahendra Singh Dhoni's absence at the nets, Jayawardene and Coach Roger Binny, who was also present, said he was having slight cold. However, they said he would be fit for tomorrow's game.
To a question on playing lot of cricket and how the players took it, he said it was upto individuals.
"I am taking a game at a time and if you do so it is going to be easy. I can't talk about other players.
