Young Indian opener Dinesh Karthik is disappointed that he lost a golden chance to score a Test century against England after doing all the hard work in the second Test in Nottingham.
Karthik, who put up a solid 147-run opening stand with Wasim Jaffer (62) on the second day of the match, said he had should have hung around to get a hundred in conditions conducive for batting.
"A hundred was there for the asking today. To get out in the first ball after tea was definitely disappointing. If I'd gone on, a hundred was on the cards," said Karthik after India got a 56-run lead over the hosts on Day Two at Trent Bridge.
Karthik, who got out on his individual score of 77, underlined the amount of difficulty the openers faced in the first session.
"The new ball was definitely doing a bit, probably not as much as yesterday, but they had two good swing bowlers as well. Ryan Sidebottom bowled well to me. He hit me on the box a couple of times, got me on the hand.
