It might have cost England the match but for Monty Panesar, the ''jellygate'' episode, which provoked a sleeping giant in Zaheer Khan in the second Test at Trent Bridge, is nothing but a ''small incident''.

''I think it is probably a bit misinterpreted in terms of a person doing it. It was maybe accidental or maybe a mistake at the drinks interval,'' Panesar told BBC Radio Live Five.

''I don't think it was anyone's intention to do anything as purposeful as that.

''It was probably a small incident. In cricket or any sport you try to be competitive but what was important was the game was played in the right spirit,'' the 'Sikh of Tweak' added.

The second Test saw tempers flared up after Zaheer complained that a jellybean was placed in front of him while he was batting. continued..
