I have decided to retire because I am hurt: Razzaq

Miffed with the PCB for dropping him from the Twenty20 World Championship squad, all-rounder Abdul Razzaq has quit international cricket in protest.

"I have decided to retire because I am hurt and disappointed at the way the authorities have treated me for the last few weeks," Razzaq told Geo television from London on Monday.

Razzaq, who has played in 231 one-day internationals and 46 Tests for Pakistan, was omitted from the Twenty20 World Cup squad earlier this month.

"I was very disappointed at being dropped and a senior player expects to be treated with respect. I thought someone would call me up and take me into confidence why they dropped me. But no one bothered to call me up. I think I deserved a call from the cricket board," Razzaq said.

The all-rounder -- along with former skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Yousuf, Imran Farhat and Azhar Mahmood -- has reportedly signed up to play in the Indian Cricket League.

However, Razzaq has denied having inked any contract with ICL. "No, I have not signed up as yet, when I do I will make it public. I will decide in next few days," he claimed.

But a player, who is among those who have signed up, said the ICL organisers have told them not to go public about the signings and they would make the announcement themselves.

No board official was available for immediate comments.
