Dravid will be under pressure against Pakistan: Jadeja

Former international cricketer Ajay Jadeja today said dropping Rahul Dravid from the final one-dayer against Australia in Mumbai was "unjustified" as it would bring the batsman under pressure in the upcoming series against Pakistan.
"It is not justified. You drop him for the last match, which in any way was inconsequential, makes no sense," Jadeja told reporters in Chandigarh on the sidelines of a function.
He said if the Indian team management was looking to play him in future, then dropping him would serve no purpose.
"This was the match when Dravid could have helped his form. If you are going to play him against Pakistan, he is going to be under pressure," Jadeja said.
Asked to comment on Indian team's performance against the Australians in the seven-match ODI series, he said, "It was reasonably okay".
"Aussies have shown why they are superior. I feel we could have done slightly better," he said.
He said the positives which emerged from the ODI series were that Sachin Tendulkar looked in good touch, Sourav Ganguly has come back in form while Murali Kartik and Zaheer Khan also impressed with their performances.
Regarding Robin Uthappa, Jadeja said he was showing good signs of maturing into a good batsman, though he needed to convert his scores into big innings.
He said Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni was a great match finisher and he was reminded of his own hay days.
Jadeja said he was still in the business of playing cricket and would be playing in Hong Kong next week.
Asked if he gets an offer from ICL, he replied, "If it excites me, I will play". |
