I am ready for India tour: Kaneria
19th Nov 2007 09:00 IST Agencies
Kaneria said he was hopeful that new captain Shoaib Malik would also repose confidence in him.
"Malik has played under Inzamam and knows how he handled me. I am confident he will also use me to the best of abilities and at the times when I can deliver best for the team," the leg-spinner said.
The 26-year-old pointed out that it was very important for a leg-spinner to have a good captain backing him all the way.
"A leg spinner is an attacking bowler and needs his captain to have confidence in him. Imran Khan depended a lot on Abdul Qadir while Wasim Akram had the same faith in Mushtaq Ahmed.
"Shane Warne has enjoyed such a lot of success because he has played under some very good captains."
Kaneria said he has a very good rapport with his new captain.
"I don't have problems being a stock bowler and sending down long spells. But I want wickets because that is my main task. I am ready to do a lot of bowling in India."
Kaneria said that he was going to India well prepared as he had a good workout against South Africa and had been playing lot of domestic cricket.
The bowler said he was disappointed not to be part of the one-day team in India but said this had also allowed him to celebrate Diwali with his family. |
