Misbah said if the Indians set his side a target "We will go there and play our normal game. If a situation develops where our openers give us a good start, may be then we can decide whether to chase the target or just play out the day."

Misbah said his innings was an answer to his critics who said he was getting out to strange shots. "Definitely, it's an answer. Day by day, I look to improve my performance."

The 33-year-old did not agree that India had lost the match tactically, but said the partnership between him and Akmal changed the course of the game.

Praising the wicketkeeper, Misbah said, "He played an extraordinary innings. He batted superbly."

Asked about his mindset when he came out to bat, Misbah said he played according to the situation and applied himself well.

"An experienced bowler like Kumble was bowling on a third day wicket which had broken a lot and it was difficult, so you had to apply yourself.

"So I was only thinking that if I get a good ball then it's fine, but I won't make a mistake of my own," he added.
