I've not mellowed down: Sreesanth

After being in the headlines for all the wrong reasons, spunky speedster S Sreesanth is back to doing what he does best, taking wickets.

Clearly relieved after his match-winning spell for Kings XI Punjab against the Bangalore Royal Challengers in Bangalore on Monday night, Sreesanth denied that the slapping row, which saw Harbhajan Singh being banned from the remainder of the IPL, had curbed his aggression.

"No, I've not mellowed down," the pacer, who returned figures of 2/16 after opening his team’s bowling, insisted in the post-match press conference.

"I don't focus on the history but only focus on the present. I'm only concentrating on hitting the right areas," he added.

The Kings XI Punjab pacer was named Man of the Match for his effort that included two wickets off successive deliveries – the fourth and fifth - in the opening over of the Bangalore Challengers’ innings, a blow the hosts could not recover from.

The Rahul Dravid-led Bangalore side was eventually skittled out for 126 in 19.2 overs, a target the Punjab side overwhelmed in 18.2 overs losing only four wickets.

The sprightly pacer said he enjoyed the feeling of playing at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

"It's always nice to play at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. I always cherish it. There was no strategy as such when I bowled the first over, only that I was all charged up," he said.

Coach Tom Moody, for his part, felt that his wards did not play perfect cricket.

"We made some fundamental mistakes but were lucky enough not to be punished for that. The results have been good for us and at the end of the league we may be serious contenders," Moody said.
