On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni criticised his batsmen for bad shot selection, which let the team down in the match.

"One or two stands could have got us through to a win. No one took the responsibility. Couple of bad shot selections affected us today. It was a gettable total," Dhoni said after his team lost to Bangalore by 14 runs.

"We changed the batting order according to situation. Most of them floated around. If the players had thought in the middle as much as they thought at the dressing room, we would have won," he said.

Dhoni said they would try and win the next match against Rajasthan Royals on Saturday to seal the berth in the semifinals.

"We do not want to wait till the last league match (against Deccan Chargers in Hyderabad May 27) and are keen to make the semi-final grade against Rajasthan," Dhoni said.
