Gilchrist should lead Deccan Chargers: Afridi

Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi feels Adam Gilchrist would make a better skipper for the Deccan Chargers team in the next IPL season as VVS Laxman, who led the team in the inaugural edition, lack the leadership qualities required for the cricket's latest version.
Hyderabad Deccan Chargers was the last placed team in the highly successful inaugural Indian Premier League tournament.
"Gilchrist was one of the two most successful players for us in the season along with Rohit Sharma. He played some really good innings and his input was very good at times on the field. If they do appoint Adam as captain I think he would be a better choice than Laxman," Afridi told Geo News channel.
Asked about the performance of Laxman as captain, Afridi pointed out that the Indian batsman was not a regular Twenty20 player neither for his country nor at domestic level.
"At times Laxman lost the plot on the field. Twenty20 cricket is not his forte. Adam is more comfortable in this type of cricket," Afridi said.
He, however, didn't believe changing the coach would make much of a difference as the owners have replaced Robin Singh with Australian Darren Lehman.
