Cricketers Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh have hailed the gold winning effort of Abhinav Bindra at the Beijing Olympics, saying it's a proud moment for Indians, particularly sportspersons.

"He has done all of us proud," ODI captain Dhoni told reporters in Bangalore, adding, he would have loved to wish the 25-year-old Bindra in person.

He said Bindra's achievement is one of the best things to have happened to Indian sport, noting that it was an individual effort and not a team effort.

"It's a proud moment", Dhoni said.

Yuvraj, like Dhoni who is undergoing a two-day training and fitness camp in Bangalore ahead of the one-day series against Sri Lanka, said it's a matter of pride for every Indian sportsman and every Indian.

"He (Bindra) has put in a lot of efforts to achieve this. As a sportsman, I am very happy," Yuvraj said.

Bindra created history in the Chinese capital by claiming the gold medal in 10m air rifle event on Monday to give India its first individual gold medal.
