Aussie speedster Brett Lee has got a gift a week ahead of the Ashes battle with his wife Liz delivering their first child, a boy.

Liz was originally due to give birth to the child next Wednesday – a day before the first Test in Brisbane – but the early arrival of the baby, named Preston Charles, Thursday provided Lee the scope to be with his wife and son, according to a report published in the 'Herald Sun.'

The Lees had earlier decided that the tearaway bowler would play in the first Test even if he had to miss the birth his baby. Now, he would leave for the team camp tomorrow.

The couple had tied the knot earlier this year after Lee proposed to Liz during Australia's tour of South Africa in March-April.

Australian coach John Buchanan said, Lee must be a relieved player now considering the good health of his wife and newborn son.

"From Brett's point of view it's great news because Liz and the baby are doing well and the timing was perfect," he said.
