NEWS ICC Champions Trophy 2006>Gayle paints Pink City red 11th Oct 2006 22.10 IST By Manish Kumar Christopher Henry Gayle smashed his thirteenth ODI hundred as the West Indies mauled Bangladesh by ten wickets in the fourth match of the Champions Trophy at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on October 11. The defending champions easily achieved a partly victory target of 162 runs scoring 164 runs with ten wickets in hand and 80 balls to spare. Gayle’s opening partner Shivnarine Chanderpaul played a composed knock of an unbeaten 52 hitting six fours in the process. Earlier, winning the toss and electing to bat, minnows Bangladesh were bundled out by the Windies’ bowlers for just 161 runs in 46.3 overs. Only three Bangladeshi batsmen got to double figures with Aftab Ahmed top scoring with 59, opener Shariar Nafees chipping in with 38 and keeper Khaled Mashud contributing with an unbeaten 22. But from 95/1, Bangladesh slumped to 161 all out with the most notable failure being that of their skipper Habibul Bashar who registered his second consecutive duck today and was trapped plumb in front of the wicket by Corey Collymore on first ball. For the Windies Dwayne Bravo took three wickets, while Jerome Taylor , Collymore and Marlon Samuels took two wickets. Gayle took one wicket and was adjudged the Man of the Match – his second of the tournament. The next match of the tournament is the clash of the minnows Bangladesh and Zimbabwe in Pink City Jaipur on Friday.
