Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar is set to catch up with Sri Lankan veteran Sanath Teran Jayasuriya as the most capped ODI player when he turns out for India in the series opener against the West Indies at the VCA stadium in Nagpur on Sunday.
Tendulkar, 33, has played in 374 one-day internationals so far in which he has amassed 14,537 runs, as compared to the former Lanka skipper's tally of 11,442 from 375 matches.
Tendulkar, named vice-captain for the series, has also scored more ODI hundreds and fifties than the Marauder from Matara, 40 and 74 against Jayasuriya's 23 and 61.
The Indian maestro is way ahead of two other great contemporary batsmen in the ODI appearance stake, Ricky Thomas Ponting and Brian Lara .
Australian captain Ponting has turned out in 263 ties while his West Indies counterpart has to his credit 287 caps.
