The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has expressed fear that Cuttack's Barabati stadium could be banned from staging international matches after the man-handling incident of coach Greg Chappell.

BCCI chief Sharad Pawar said, the International Cricket Council has strict guidelines on security issues and venues where such incidents occur could risk being blacklisted.

"This kind of incident should not have happened. I fear that such an incident, if it takes place at a centre that venue may be banned as per the ICC law," Pawar told reporters in New Delhi on Tuesday.

"Therefore this incident is unfortunate for Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. Fortunately the Chief Minister of the State and Sports Minister talked to me. They have started taking corrective actions."

Chappell was pushed by a disgruntled fan at the Biju Patnaik Airport in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
