Indian skipper Rahul Dravid may be on a high after back-to-back wins over recent tormentors West Indies, but he is not ready to give any credence - at least in public - to the psychological import of such successes.

"I don't believe in psychology. We are winning close games. And that's important. Other than that, each match, each series is a new beginning," Dravid said.

After finishing with a dismal 2-6 win-loss record against the West Indies last year, India now seem to be getting back at the Caribbeans with triumphs in Nagpur and Cuttack under their belt.

Dravid also defended his decision to bat first in last night's fixture in Cuttack.

"I never thought that my decision to bat first was wrong. Never. The dew factor was there. But then one cannot predict to what extent it will be there," he said.

"I had to take a little chance. We knew the wicket was going to deteriorate. The dew factor was there. But people said dew was heavy on Monday and not that heavy on Tuesday."

Dravid said the total of 189 made his side confident of making a match of it.

"The batsmen returning to dressing room said if we could get near 200 it would be good score. We also had two spinners. When we reached 189 we had the confidence that if we took a few early wickets we had a game in our hands," he said.

Praising his bowlers, Dravid said that they had put pressure on the West Indies batsmen, and the presence of Shivnarine Chanderpaul in the middle ensured that none could relax.
