NEWS India-West Indies ODI Series 2007>ICC begins probe into Samuels' conversations 12th Feb 2007 22.25 IST By Agencies The International Cricket Council (ICC) today began probe into the conversations between West Indian all-rounder Marlon Samuels and alleged bookie Mukesh Kochar. The ICC team was led by its anti-corruption unit regional security manager N S Virk.
"All team members are experienced investigators having worked with the Scotland Yard for 30 years previously and will leave no stone unturned in investigation," he told reporters. Murgatroyd said the team would restrict its role to cricket and will not speculate on investigating the role of Kochar and his alleged links with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. It will be too early to say anything on financial dealings, he said without, however, ruling it out completely. "No time-frame has been fixed by the ICC to complete the probe," he replied to a question. Appreciating the role of Nagpur Police, Brian said, "We should all be vigilant in the top most interest of the game." He said the team would also explore what actually was a violation of ICC code of conduct for players and officials. Apart from Virk and Murgatroyd, the two other members of the ICC team include Jeffraes and Allan Peacock, both investigators. Meanwhile, Nagpur Police today disclosed that the West Indies team's players' kit arrived in the city just half an hour before the start of the first one-day match against India on January 21.
