NEWS Cricket World Cup 2007>Indian team to get NSG cover in Caribbean Islands 02nd Mar 2007 14.04 IST By Agencies The Indian team will be guarded by elite National Security Guard commandos in West Indies during the World Cup because security arrangements in the Caribbean Islands were considered not up to the mark. The government took a decision in this regard after West Indian officials conveyed through diplomatic channels about their inability to provide elaborate security to the 15-member team, sources said. Some players of the team have been facing threats from Pakistan-based Lashker-e-Taiba. The team led by Rahul Dravid , along with Coach Greg Chappell and BCCI officials, have left for West Indies on Wednesday night. Security officials who accompanied Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat during his visit to West Indies during November 9-11 had also conveyed to the government about the lax security in West Indies, sources said. This is for the first time that the NSG commandos would be sent for the security of Indian team anywhere outside the country.
