Profile
The vice-captain of the side, Adam Gilchrist is one of the most exciting batsmen in the world cricket today. As an opener in one-day cricket he has given Australia several solid starts. Whilst his most devastating shot is the pull, he possesses a wide variety of strokes and his penchant for powering the ball square of the wicket is accompanied by an equally adroit capacity to drive the ball fluently through the arc between mid-off and mid-on. Behind the stumps, he is reliable, enthusiastic and athletic. He is generally more comfortable keeping to faster bowlers than to spinners.
