Profile
Chris Cairns has finally shed the tag of 'potential' world-class all-rounder. The player has come of age with the maturity of his performance over recent seasons. He had an excellent World Cup campaign when he he averaged averaged 36.40 with the bat (third behind Twose and Harris) and took 12 wickets at 27.70, the second best bowling by a New Zealander to Allott's record-breaking performance. At 29 years of age Chris Cairns has been a member of the New Zealand team, injury permitting, for ten years making him one of the side's most experienced players. When the chips are down Cairns has often proved to be the player to perform against the odds. He is now the vice-captain of the side.
