Profile Venkatesh Prasad has always been a perfect bowling partner for his state-mate and friend Javagal Srinath. Prasad is a diligent medium pacer who at times can be positively hostile. He has a superb leg-cutter and a very deceptive slower ball, good boucer and an accurate yorker in his armoury. Though off late, the yorker is not used that much. He has always loved the good bowling conditions abroad, which are more helpful to his bowling than the Indian conditions. But surprisingly, his most devastating spell has been achieved at Chennai where in the first Test in January 1999, he brought the Pakistan second innings to a swift end with figures of six for 33 which included a spell of five for zero. The Pakistanis have somehow been vulnerable to him.
